At the Movies – February 2011 – Part 3: Best of the Month

Must See of the Month:

Unknown (Jaume Collet-Serra) – Thriller – Feb 18
The film is about Dr. Martin Harris who travels to Germany with his wife for a medical conference, only to be in a car accident and end up in a coma. Upon awakening from his coma, he discovers that someone has taken his identity and no one, not even his wife, believes he is who is says he is. Now, with the help of a young woman, he goes on a mission to prove who he is. Director Jaume Collet-Serra makes his fourth feature with this film, and likely his best to date. He has a solid crew on the film with composers John Ottman (does a lot of action films) and British award-winning songwriter scoring his first feature Alexander Rudd, cinematographer Flavio Labiano (who worked with Collet-Serra previously), production designer Richard Bridgland, and super action producer Joel Silver. The film stars Liam Neeson (taking another role that resembles the spirit his in Taken) and features January Jones, Aidan Quinn and Frank Langella as well as an awesome group of German actors – Diane Kruger, Bruno Ganz and Sebastian Koch – in supporting roles. The cast is what has me really excited for this film. It looks like a very good thriller (again, a lot like Taken mixed with Frantic stylistically and tonally). Check out the trailer.
